Arches 7 - 1 Hardly Ath
Arches had there first league game for weeks, and Hardly wished we had stayed on cup duty. On a day that was wet, cold and windy Arches played some of their best football of the season, underling that we are stronger in the second half of the season.
Hardly played some great football, but the pace of arches game was to much for them. After 20 minutes of stalemate, Wes took the ball and curled his shot round the keeper from 20 yards.
Shortly after that right back Lee went on a run the full length of the pitch beating 3 players and driving his shot between the keeper and the post. Then it was Paul Bents turn with a great left foot volley from 25 yards out, the keeper had no chance.
Then Captain Kev Furey climbed higher than all the rest to power home a great header from one of Paul's corners to make it 4-0. Down the other end Arches keeper Tony was having a great game saving everything. New center back pairing of Lee and Paul looked to be gelling well, stopping everything and playing some great football in the process, along with the two full backs Lee and Marcus, who also supported the wingers in the attack. Wes and Kev had a great battle in the middle of the park, one of the best duels of the season. Wingers Paul and Gavin turned both full backs inside out with Paul coming inside and opening the Hardly defence up for the front two. Mike continued his great form with a goal and a man of the match performance linking up well with strike partner Dave, supported by Azz in the second half. Hardly scored one after the restart which only made us up a gear and hit back with another 3 goals from Mike, Paul G, and a second for captain Kev. Hardly had nothing else to give, but hats off to them for keeping going all the way to the end of the match pushed on by their midfield dynamo Tom who had a great game himself.
With a few more players they could be a great side, we wish Hardly all the best for the rest of the season and hope they manage to secure premiership status for next season.
A real good set of lads.
