Chorlton Villa 1 - 6 Arches .
You have never watched a more one sided first half in your life.
At one stage we had Chorlton pinned in their own 18 yard box.
Azz could have had 5 goals, Mike 4 ,Kev 2, and so on. Just one of those days when the football was some of our best, but the ball would not go in the net. We hit the post, the cross bar, back of the keepers head, the ref, you name it we hit it the only thing we didn't hit was the net.
Then the unthinkable happened Chorlton got a corner and they scored! But that was their big mistake we just played better and faster football but still couldn't score, we went in at half time 0 - 1 down. Chorlton on the other hand went off looking like they had just been hammered, heads down with nothing left to give.
First 10 minutes into the second half was much the same all one way traffic, then I made a sub, Joe off and Simmo on, and within 5 minutes we were 1-1 then 1-2, then 1-3, everything just seemed to fall into place. With Benty pulling the strings in the midfield we took Chorlton to pieces and everyone started to get in on the act. With the pace of Azz and Paul down the wings supported by the fullbacks Gavin and Marcus it soon became too much for the Chorlton defence to handle and they ended up chasing their tails. Rick in our goal had nothing to do in the second half whatsoever as our back line were totally dominant and looked like they should have been playing upfront. Protected by the ever present Wes who gave Paul and Kev the room they needed to drive the team forward. Mike, Dave and Azz upfront destroyed Chorlton's backline with some slick one-touch football and soon the score was 1-6 to Arches.
Terry and Dave came on for Kev and Azz and continued their high standard of play.
Goals came from Simmo 2, Benty 2, Mike 1 and Lee Hamblett scored his first goal for the club keeping up the tradition of every Arches outfield player scoring this season!
MOM - this was a close one to call as it could have been one from 11 but it went to Paul Bent in the end.
A great squad performance by Arches with us now needing seven points to retain our league title.
Special mention to the Chorlton goal keeper, without him the score would have been a lot more and he was outstanding for them.
